Think they'll let me drive the $37,000 Corvette?

I came in here to say it's all in how you ask it. Then I saw that it was a Carmax URL and all I can say is that place operates on the screwiest rules in the world.

Come to NC and you can put all the miles on my $27,000 ish (at least a few years ago) Vette you want.

I like carmax. Never had a problem browsing, and getting test drives of cheap cars had never been a problem. When I saw the ZL1 I got to fire it up and make noise, but the salesman said they aren't allowed to take out the $50,000 cars willie nillie. I don't know what the most they can take is though...
I'll probably go look at it anyways, at least I can fondle it for a few minutes

I meant that they play by different rules. CarMax offers a retail model. Everything had a set price, incoming and outgoing, and most employees are paid a salary plus bonuses. If they could get overstocked cars on pallets, they probably would.
It's just weird to see from the outside.

Rent an expensive suit
Get a friend who's willing to pretend to be your assistant
Rent/Borrow an S class, A8 or 7 series and have your friend drive it for you (MUST BE ONE OF THESE THREE)
Call ahead to the dealership and schedule a test drive. Make sure the dealer sees your 'assistant' opening the door for you before you exit the car. Test drive all the things.
Profit
Cliff notes
If the dealer tries to dig a little deeper when you arrive, back off immediately. You're an important business man, you don't have time for this crap.
See how far you can get, though don't expect too much from Lambo/Ferrari direct dealers. Bonus points if you pull that off, though!
Be sure to do it again, but with you in the assistant role and your friend as the important business guy, because you're not a dick.

The key to getting attention at a car dealer is to roll up in a car with a fancier badge than what that dealership sells.
Last fall I was shopping for a winter beater SUV. When I'd show up at mainstream-brand dealers in my 135is, it was like flies on shit. Typically, someone would spot me while I was driving in to the lot, and lord over me while I parked. It got kind of annoying actually.

That doesn't seem like the kind of guy that buys a Camaro, or even a Corvette. That's the guy that knows what he wants (nothing by Chevrolet) and sends someone to buy it for him.

My first time to carmax I showed up in my S class dressed in sweats and a tee. I wanted to check out the ZL1, started it up and played with the navigation. The sales guy was about 40 and he was begging me to drive the thing. I declined as it would make me rush home, go on autotrader, and buy the first yellow c6 zo6 I see.
